The Costa Smeralda, meaning “Emerald Coast” in Italian, is a renowned stretch of coastline located on the northeastern shore of the island of Sardinia, Italy. Famous for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and rugged granite cliffs, the Costa Smeralda has long been a favored destination for luxury travelers and jet-setters from around the world.
Beaches & Nature
Some of the smaller islands of Sardinia are inhabited – you will find charming, quaint villages: that’s the case of Sant’Antioco and San Pietro islands. Others are completely uninhabited, and natural, pristine and highly protected, and are home to some incredibly interesting sites – that’s the case of Asinara and some of the islands of La Maddalena Archipelago (both are national parks!). Some have also been the object of political disputes until very recently.
One way to discover the island is through its cuisine, its flavors, its wine.
Food tells a territory: in few places in the world is this as true as in Sardinia. Product quality, preparation and taste of the dishes have a value that goes beyond goodness and are the legacy of a millenary story. Sardinian cuisine is similar to that of many centuries ago, although it differs between the various territories in terms of preparation techniques. On the coast or inland, Sardinia never ceases to amaze with its delicacies, based on simple and genuine ingredients, with strong yet delicate flavours.

Whether in a vintage van or a modern camper, vanlife here becomes a space for reflection, discovery and meaningful connection — with the land, with people, and with yourself.
Erasmus+ 2026/27
The project aims to strengthen youth engagement in environmental sustainability within Mediterranean territories where tourism significantly affects local ecosystems and communities.
Starting from the context of Sardinia and working in cooperation with partners from Spain and Greece, the project establishes a structured transnational framework that connects local analysis, intercultural dialogue and collective output development.
The first objective is to increase young people’s understanding of the environmental impact of seasonal and coastal tourism in fragile territories.
This objective directly contributes to the priority “Environment and fight against climate change” by encouraging critical reflection and responsible behaviours linked to real territorial dynamics.
The second objective is to reinforce youth participation and civic engagement by involving young people in a structured process that leads to the formulation of practical recommendations for more sustainable tourism models.
This is aligned with the priority “Common values, civic engagement and participation”, as participants actively contribute to shared outputs rather than remaining passive learners.
The third objective is to ensure inclusive participation by engaging young people with fewer opportunities, particularly from rural, island and peripheral areas. This reflects the priority “Inclusion and diversity”, ensuring equal access to meaningful European cooperation and non-formal learning experiences.
The main expected results include increased environmental awareness, strengthened intercultural and collaborative competences, the co-creation of a Youth Eco-Tourism Charter for Mediterranean Islands, and the development of a youth- led Digital Guide for Green and Inclusive Tourism. Together, these outputs translate learning into tangible and transferable results.
