Next Editorial Stage
The core Destination Paper is now complete: it includes the strategic rationale, ten priorities, implementation and governance arrangements, international alignment, and a selected reference base.
The next stage should be editorial consolidation rather than adding further substantive sections. The recommended sequence is:
- Create an executive summary
A concise 2–3 page front section setting out the challenge, the opportunity, the ten priorities and the immediate decisions required. - Standardise structure and language
Harmonise section titles, remove any repetition, ensure consistent terminology—for example, “destination partnerships,” “visitor economy,” “regional DMO” and “Sustainable Tourism Delivery Board.” - Validate all figures and citations
In particular, verify tourism-flow figures, reservoir data, public-investment allocations, Natura 2000 coverage and the status of regional programmes against the final authoritative sources. - Develop a final implementation scorecard
Convert the proposed indicators into a compact one-page monitoring framework with baseline, target, lead body, reporting frequency and data source. - Prepare the designed publication version
Add a title page, contents page, visual hierarchy, call-out statistics, tables, maps or diagrams, acknowledgements and a final bibliography.
Suggested title
Sardinia 2030: A Destination Stewardship Framework for a Resilient, Inclusive and Nature-Positive Visitor Economy
Suggested subtitle
A strategic paper for managing tourism growth within environmental limits, strengthening local value and securing long-term destination quality.
Core editorial message
The completed paper makes one clear argument:
Sardinia does not need a strategy focused solely on attracting more visitors. It needs a destination-stewardship system that manages demand, protects natural and cultural capital, improves local livelihoods and keeps the island welcoming, resilient and distinctive over the long term.
The immediate next substantive deliverable is the Executive Summary, followed by the final monitoring scorecard and publication-ready assembly.
